Shōyō-ji Temple 松養寺
From Kurii Port 20 min 5 min No bus service 10 minute walk from the parking lot
This temple was originally located on Mt. Akahage and called Urumi-bō. However, when Emperor Godaigo stayed here it was renamed. The wooden carving of the bodhisattva in the temple is said to have been gifted by the emperor, and is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Shimane Prefecture.The tomb of the Emperor's descendant prince kyōson is located within the shrine grounds, and the tomb of the famous monk Mongaku Shōnin can also be found on the way to the temple.
