Saigō-misaki Cape Lookout & Explosion Crater 西郷岬
From Saigō Port - 25min 10min No bus service -
Saigō-misaki Cape commands a beautiful view of the entrance to the Saigō Bay as well as the stunning red-tinged rock of the coast created by volcanic eruptions 5 million years ago. There is a charming old lighthouse at the end of the cape and a large park area. From the second lookout located further down behind the lighthouse you can see the remains of a volcanic crater which looks like a giant bowl cut in half. The crater is also visible from the ferry when entering Saigō Port.
